3 Stupidly Simple Fear Hacks That Will Make You Feel Like Genius
Do you want to learn how to overcome fear, no matter how great your fear is?
Wouldn’t it be great if you knew exactly how to overcome fear, so that you could get rid fear in less time than it takes for you to guzzle down your favorite beverage?
Have you ever found yourself paralyzed by fear, and unable to take the necessary action that you knew you had to take in order to change your life for the better?
My goal over the next few moments is to give you the jab, jab, right cross, knock-out combination so that you can give your fear the much needed kick in the hinder parts and finally install actionable fear hacks that will empower you to win the battle over fear every single time – without fail.
The truth is that people who make personal and professional growth a major part of their existence will find themselves in a cage match with fear over and over again as they grow to new heights and conquer new frontiers.
Don’t you just hate it when some novice soul who’s intoxicated on their inexperience, looks you right in you baby blues (or your maple tinted hazel eyes) and declares to you, “Fear is not real!”?
Well, if “fear is not real”, then neither are the clouds in the sky.
The truth is that fear is very real.
However, the great news is that fear is an emotion, and you can choose to manage your emotions and not to allow them to manage you.
Look, consider this:
There’s negative thinking, positive thinking, and RIGHT thinking. I’m a positive person. However, “right thinking” has proven to be bankable throughout my life.
And, right thinking tells me that fear is very real.
So, we don’t overcome fear by taking shots of positive thoughts every time we face fear.
We overcome fear by installing what I call Proven Fear Hacks (PFH)
Here’s the first one.
Proven Fear Hack 1
This PFH is worth its weight in gold.
(This is not original from yours truly.)
I hijacked it from the inspiring Mel Robbins, who authored a powerful book called The 5 Second Rule in which Mel unleashes this 5 second fear hack.
The 5 Second Rule not only works when you find yourself fearful, but it works in any other situation you find yourself in, like when you need to make a decision and you find yourself wrestling with hesitation.
The 5 Second Rule is a form of metacognition that is superior to every other trick that your brain plays on you.
Most of us don’t even realize how often we hesitate, doubt ourselves, or “analyze until we’re paralyzed.”
This gives way for fear to take over and worry to hijack your mind, robbing you over and over again of opportunities throughout your lifetime.
In this state of mind, the minutest actions that you want to take can seem like an insurmountable task.
Rather than settling for highway robbery – and never truly getting what your worth out of life – you can take your control back into your own hands by simply acting on the 5 Second Rule.
Here’s the hack.
Once you get the urge to take a certain action, no matter what that action is, began to count down from 5.
Then blast off into immediate action. Just do it!
I know this may sounds so silly to you – “too elementary”, or even “extremely childish.”
Listen, consider this:
Successful people do simple things that work over and over again, while unsuccessful people often sow their efforts in unproven complicated methods that are not engineered to create the success in which they seek.
I can write an entire essay on the science behind the 5 Second Rule.
However, my goal in this article is to arm you with several fear hacks so that you can employ the one most effective for you.
One of the biggest and most common mistakes people make when they face fear is: avoid the fear.
This leads me to the next fear hack.
Proven Fear Hack 2
This highly successful entrepreneur (who is responsible for creating success in the lives of tens of thousands worldwide) was on a quest to conquer new goals in his life, one in which was he wanted to learn how to ski. So, he hired one of the best ski coaches in the world.
In one of their early lessons, his ski coach took him to the top of this ski slope.
Like you and I would perhaps experience as a beginner skier, he was met with an overwhelming sense of fear.
There he found himself presented with an opportunity to conquer a major goal in his life. However, his opportunity to conquer this major goal came accompanied with an almost overwhelming sense of fear.
As he hesitated to take the first step in achieving his goal, he looked his coach right in the eye.
His coach called his name and said, “Lean into your fear.”
You must lean into your fears no matter how big or small. Successful men and woman who live lives most others will never know is possible, lean into their fears, every-time they’re confronted by fear.
The only way that you will overcome your fears is to embrace them – to lean into them, to move forward despite of them.
Look, your fear acts as a stamp of approval that you’re growing.
Lean into to your fears, don’t flee from them.
It was the late Eleanor Roosevelt who graced humanity with self-empowerment when she said, “Do one thing every day that scares you.”

I call this “practicing fear”. The more you grapple with fear, the better you’ll become at grappling with fear, ultimately growing into a “fear conqueror”!
The problem most people have, is they flee from fear. That’s not what you want to do.
You want to practice fear every single day, by doing at least one thing everyday that scares you.
Cursed is the comfort zone of any man.
To the degree of his/her ability to proceed in the direction of their goal as if the achievement of their goal is inevitable, will ultimate determined the breath and depth of their freedom. – Antonio Easter
